On the edge of the Pacific Ocean where powdery white sands sparkle like gold, the legendary Hotel del Coronado offers 757 rooms and a magical seaside experience.



Vast property and large staff require CFO to seek innovative IT approach to optimize
performance and appeal for Curio Collection acquisition.

The Challenge

This historic property required a very high level of onsite IT performance in order to support its 300+ employees, 757 guest rooms, 36 revenue centers, and droves of tourists visiting constantly.  Originally employing five internal IT personnel to manage operations, the CFO sought a more innovative and efficient approach to IT in order to maintain peak performance.

Due to Nexplay’s reputation and proven track record in the industry, the hotel’s executive staff chose to outsource all of its IT for the first time in its 130+ year history. Hotel del Coronado banked on the superiority of leveraging an IT Team with specific, proven expertise in hospitality, resulting in another historic transition into one of the most remarkable, sought-after destination hotels in the world.

The Solution

Nexplay was able adopt full technology operations and lower the hotel’s I.T. labor costs by over 25%, while strategically reorganizing and streamlining processes to overcome inefficiencies experienced in the past.  Nexplay was also able to decrease support ticket response & resolution times by over 50%, and increase employee I.T. satisfaction rates by over 80%.

After 3 years of optimized management and the hotel running at peak performance, the Blackstone Group brought in Hilton to acquire management of the property under their Curio Collection Brand. To help with the transition, Nexplay provided comprehensive assistance to Hilton’s Corporate I.T. team for 6 months, acclimating and transferring all technology to Hilton’s infrastructure standards.
